I’m passionate about South Africa, knowledgeable on all things South African, including wine, the people, politics and the economy.” As a South African, Glen has spent 20 years living in Britain, Iran and the United States gathering extensive international experience in the hospitality industry. As an industry Senior Executive she brings a wealth of hospitality knowledge as well as high standards of operation to Vineyard Ventures here in South Africa. Glen is an interesting person having traversed the continents of Britain, France, Australia and the United States breeding and racing horses, to operating in high-level hospitality environments in both the USA and here at home. It comes as little surprise that her company, Vineyard Ventures, is now recommended by leading guide books such as Fodors and Frommers. Glen was born in Lesotho. Educated in South Africa. As a music lecturer and a student of ancient civilisations, combined with his love of wine and culture, Ernst is a guide who is in great demand. Not only has he travelled extensively throughout the world, he is also a Cape wine fundi (FUNDI = a South African specialist). Ernst was born in Cape Town. Educated at the universities of Cape Town and Stellenbosch. He has been a lecturer in music and studied ancient civilisation. Marge Vermaak
Marge has obtained valuable firsthand experience of the political and cultural diversity of South Africa teaching in one of the so-called “Coloured” schools and, more recently, in one of the previous “homelands”. She has been a guide for eight years. Super experienced, efficient and enthusiastically well informed. Mervyn Davidson - Guide
He lives amongst the vineyards & winemakers in Somerset West, his membership of the 2 local wine clubs making him an active member in the wine community. Mervyn was born and educated in Johannesburg. He spent the major part of his working life in the Financial Services industry. Retiring in Cape Town in 1998, he obtained his Tour Guide Certificate -and has been happily working for Vineyard Ventures clients ever since Sarah Souter – Operations Manager Sarah prefers to remain behind the scenes!!!
Margie Hunt-Kemp – Guide Margie Hunt-Kemp has travelled extensively in the East and Europe. Other places visited have been Canada, United States of America, Australia and New Zealand. Margie has been to most game parks in SA, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe as well as visiting Zambia and Tanzania and is very passionate about the bush. Among other things Margie has lectured Accounts and Business Economics in Harare, UNISA and Cape Technikon. She has also lectured for the Cape Wine Academy – wine being her other great interest. Plays Springbok squash and enjoys golf and tennis. Educated in South Africa. Obtained B.Com. Hons. degree from Durban University and Unisa and Diploma from Cape Wine Academy.
Dave Jones – Guide Dave offers considerable knowledge in the areas of wine with much experience of the wine farms in the Western Cape. Golf and hiking are also his passion and he is very familiar with most of the courses in the Western Cape, and has played them. He offers walks and hikes in the Table Mountain range and on other trails, such as the Otter Trail in the Western Cape. He has completed wine courses with the Cape Wine Academy and the Tourist Guide Institute. He’s a founder member of a Wine Tasting Guild and have membership of both The Mountain Club of South Africa and the Mowbray Golf Club. His desire is to share with visitors South Africa’s unique natural beauty, history and culture with visitors to Cape Town, his home for more than 30 years. Dave has an honours degree from the University of Cape Town. |
